Super Tuesday eve, remember to get to the polls early!

February 4th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Senator Obama has the momentum of the La Opinion (the largest Spanish language newspaper in the United States) and LA Times endorsements, the “Yes, we can” song, and an upswing in many recent polls. And Hillary Clinton has a well-oiled machine, the campaign seasoned former President/partner, and the backing of the NY Times. I think that John McCain will continue to dominate the Republican race, much to the dismay of the more “conservative” wing of the party. Tomorrow will be interesting. Get to the polls early. If you feel paranoid about electronic voting, request a paper ballot. We’ll be blogging more out tomorrow’s outcome in the next 24 hours.

Hispanic Pundit comments today on how many Latino bloggers support Obama, while the majority of Latinos support Clinton. Any ideas about what this indicates, if anything?

Regina, I was just listening to NPR where they said that Hillary Clinton took the Latino vote by a 2-1 margin. I did not support her for a variety of reasons, but I think that with many Latinos the name recognition of “Clinton” carries weight. Additionally, I also think that the Clintons successfully manipulated the brown and black divide. On some level, Latinos aspire to be like the Clintons, when in reality, we have more in common with Barack Obama. I think that it can be attributed to a variety of things including racism.

One thing I have experienced is that Clinton has a better Latino outreach system than does Obama. I know that only last week Obama’s campaign set up an office in East LA. They should have been there a month ago.

Racism…and the fear of actual political change inspired those Latino voters to vote for Hillary. Sharing the bottom of the food chain with Native Americans has completely limited our political vision. We can’t see a good thing, even when it beats us over the head. The same people who have been politically and economically repressing you for 500 years, with lies and promises of equality have led you down the Yellow Brick Road again. You have just given Hillary the ruby slippers. Although come November, those ruby slippers will be on John McCain’s feet.

Sometimes you are just too brutal Michael.
