Jennifer Lopez stopped by Senator Barack Obama’s office yesterday for a visit, but she declined to comment on why she was there. Yesterday Obama was scheduled to be at a hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Rumors are spreading around Washington, D.C. that she might be writing a song for Obama. Let’s hope that she decides not to do that. The Obama campaign has some great songs already, thanks to a talented group of supporters. Actually, I would love to see a celebrity like J. Lo out registering voters as an example of hands-on grassroots activity, but I’m not holding my breath on that one.
Let’s see if La Lopez takes a cue from Susan Sarandon or even Angelina Jolie and develops a more public social awareness.

I don’t see how Jennifer Lopez’s direct interaction with Barack Obama can help his campaign. Other than to ignite rumors that Karl Rove will surely exploit for John McCain’s benefit. Maybe she was looking for Leslie Sanchez’s office and got lost?

Didn’t she just give birth to twins? How’s that for priorities? I guess it’s easier for the nannies to raise those kids, so mommy can get into the news.

I don’t think Obama needs dancing lessons, or how to speak Spangish in two easy lessons. Aren’t J-Lo and Leslie Sanchez the ying and yang of the GOP? It would be interesting to hear what J-Lo’s defines as political.

Give her a break – I hope she can be useful to the Democratic party and specifically in electing Obama. Also, just because she just had two children and she is fortunate enough to have help does not mean that her “priorities” are messed up. Many women are mothers, with demanding careers and oh-my-gosh, they have outside interests!! Here’s hoping that whatever she does is helpful for Obama!

I also don’t fault her for having outside interests or even a desire to use her celebrity for a political cause. For all we know, she could have brought her twins with her and kept them in the hotel w/ their dad. Or maybe she just came down to D.C. for the day.

Let’s just hope that Ms. Lopez exercises her rights as a citizen and votes. That is the best example she could set.
