Loretta Sanchez's sex scandal with Jack Einwechter has all of the elements of a great political sex scandal--a sexy pol with a slutty image, a military officer, a Playboy connection, exotic international trysts, secret lives, Washington intrigue, etc. I guess the media is too distracted by the financial meltdown and a very interesting presidential election to give this the attention it deserves. But at least we have something to look forward to in the 111th Congress a this torrid tale of lust and power unfolds! Can't wait...

Leo-NY…you are dealing with a Congressional representative of extremely low character, duplicitous political intentions, and a self-serving attention whore. To listen to her pretend to speak for the entire Latino community, displays her lunacy and the size of her ego. This is her attempt to gather attention away from a lackluster legislative career, and shy away from the substance abuse problems she inflicts on herself. She may manage to terrify that herd that follows her on every election, but most of us are wise to her blatant stupidity, her need for the spotlight, and her illusion that she is a WASP. She is simply picking up where Geraldine Ferraro left off.

I just heard Loretta Sanchez yesterday - AUGUST 27 - on Telemundo claiming once again that she 'does not know what Obama stands for' and 'does not know if he is addressing any of the issues of our community'. How can a woman who is very visible in the Democratic party and who has been involved with Hillary not know the platform of the party and the issues that Obama is addressing? This is disingenous on her part to go on national TV and telling hispanics that he is an unknown quantity and that he is not addressing hispanics because, according to her, "we want our politicians to come to our homes and meet up and shake our hands'. 'Hispanics cannot be reached when you address them in a stadium with 9,000.. .80,000 people'. An obvious swipe at Obama's scheduled acceptance speech tomorrow.

The Obama campaign has tried to reach out to her and other hispanic congressmen personally and is reaching out to hispanics directly through reach out groups, rallies and a big campaign to register voters. What does she want? what are the issues that affect Hispanics? aside from immigration, which he sponsored the main immigration bill with McCain, that are so different from the rest of the American citizens? She is doing a disservice to her constituents by not bothering to learn about Obama's campaign( though she is playing stupid there). She is also instilling fear and creating divisiveness by implying that Hispanics need to be treated as a separate, segregated group from the rest of the American citizens because the issues being presented in the campaign are not really the 'hispanic issues.'. It's troubling to me that the housing crisis, tax cuts for the working and middle class, improved education opportunities and health care and ending the war in Iraq are not considered by Ms. Sanchez to be issues that affect hispanics.

IF Hispanics are to be an integral part of American society and not a ghetoized minority-majority- we need to start integrating with the rest of American society to address our common problems and values with the understanding that we bring a rich cultural tradition. She has a huge ego and it reflects a racist tradition of dismissing people that are different from you. She expects Obama to go and plead to her and pander to Hispanics - Mr. Obama has shown a great understanding of hispanic issues and respect for our community. He is not trying to buy our vote or go through corrupt Caudillos like Ms. Sanchez.

"Free to do whatever she wants"? Playgirl Loretta has had, and is currently having, affairs with married men. Everyone dances around the issue, but I think she should be called to account for this. It is unacceptable conduct by a member of the US Congress. Rep Baca called her a "whore." The correct term is "homewrecker." Is anyone really surprised or shocked? Get real, people. Where there's smoke, there's fire.

Rep Sanchez is free to do whatever she wants.
Her constituents are also free do what they want.
Such is the life of a politician.

Don’t ever expect Loretta Sanchez to follow any rules and exhibit any progressive political behavior. Her need to generate unwarranted attention far exceeds any political common sense. She began her political career as a Loretta Brixley, Republican candidate for Anaheim City Council. And when that didn’t win her the election she changed her name and switched political parties. That should tell you something about Loretta’s character and political ideology. And the joke has been on all the residents who exist in the 47th Congressional district and voted for her.

if by "free" you mean entertain the ideas of a republican nominee and having a 3rd term of bush policy, ok, i see what you mean, because afterall, her lack of endorsement is what this post was about. her "choice" will also determine her re-election.

Wendy, being a Democrat is CHOICE. One can leave the party or vote against the party if they choose. Democrats disagree all the time.
Of course, Rep Sanchez can endorse whoever she wants. The Democratic party doesnt force its
members to goose- step to the general party line.

Rep Sanchez is FREE to do whatever she wants.
