After the blogging about the tragedy facing Fabian Nuñez’s family, I thought that we should add some cheer… although for some it might be bittersweet, but Governor Bill Richardson will have a cabinet post in the Obama White House as the Secretary of Commerce, as has been widely reported for over a week now. Hopefully, he will have a positive impact on growing the economy and the upcoming census.
Bill Richardson exemplifies what we can become and do when we apply ourselves and take advantage of opportunities. He has an impressive resume as we have pointed out repeatedly.
Congrats to Governor Richardson – he could very well be Secretary of State in the next Obama administration! If Condi Rice can play musical chairs, he can too, as he has done previously. And I agree with President-Elect Obama, Richardson does look more rugged and Western with the beard! Hopefully, he will grow it back.
I also want to note that the WSJ Washington Wire mentioned our blog posts about the Richardson vs. Clinton face off for the Secretary of State. It also references some other sentiments that are worth reading as well.

Don’t you think it diminishes Richardson to call Secretary of Commerce a consolation prize?

Well, the NY Times called it a consolation prize. It is further down the line in terms of cabinet rank…
It’s still job in the cabinet, and Richardson should be congratulated! If anything, we have built up Richardson and praised his glory on this blog. All you have to do is search the archives under Bil Richardson.

Actually the NY Times was quoting Latino groups when they called Secretary of Commerce a consolation prize.
I doubt Richardson thinks of it this way. If he had that sorry attitude he wouldn’t be able to do the job well.
There is too much of a loser attitude on this board.

Maybe Bill Richardson’s appointment as Secretary of Commerce is a stationary position? Hillary and her giant ego are bound to start promoting her own agenda, and this will easily offend various world leaders in the Third World. So I am sure this is just a strategic move to make Bill Richardson more accessible, since he is obviously more qualified than she’ll ever be.

Nice Blog, i’m adding you to my blogroll
As a hispanic (cuban/american) i’m happy to see bill richardson in the cabinet. He represents what immigration about assimilation. He’s well qualified for the position and is a mistake to look at this as a consolation prize.
