You know it’s the Holiday Season when Loretta Sanchez’s cards hit the mail!

December 13th, 2008 · 55 Comments

It’s that time of the year again — Loretta Sanchez has a new holiday card. The Congresswoman does seem to be toning it down from the “pet the cat” card that hit a few years back when she posed with Gretzky, her fluffy feline, on her lap. I wonder if her sister Congresswoman Linda Sanchez will release some sort of artsy pregnancy photos that seem to be en vogue right now since she made her big announcement a few weeks ago. If Loretta were the pregnant one, I could totally envision that happening, but Linda seems more modest.

I do want to note that taxpayer dollars don’t pay for the cards, as the OC Register points out. Money to pay for these cards comes from her campaign kitty. Curiosity got the best of me, and I did a search on These cards cost Loretta’s campaign fund around $130K every year. That’s enough money to pay for college at an elite university or to pay an upper level management person for a year, or in some parts of the country, enough dough to buy a house. Kennedy Communications in D.C. has produced these cards in the past, so if you are a Loretta Sanchez donor, your money is likely contributing toward this “sassy seasons greetings.”

The “pet the cat” card is pure comedy gold. I worked at an office where someone received the card and it was on display every day for shits and giggles. This new one isn’t as strange as previous cards. :-|

    Your tax dollars at work.

  • 3 Sheila // Dec 13, 2008 at 11:19 pm

It’s nice to know she included a helmet disclaimer. The cat seems to be thinking: “What kind of a hot mess did I get into this time.”

  • 4 Red Baron // Dec 14, 2008 at 1:08 am

Loretta once again displays her lack of respect for the law, and is setting a bad example for our young people, by cruising the highway without a helmet (yes, I realize it is merely simulated in this studio shot). How can we teach our kids to wear helmets when our public officials broadcast their contempt for helmet laws? Most will never see the disclaimer in fine print on the back page, which is mocked by the big, vivid color photo portraying an irresponsible, stupid and illegal act on the front page. In fact, her disclaimer constitutes an admission that she was aware of the bad message on the card. Helmets protect riders from traumatic brain injury, which isn’t funny or cute. This card is like the smoking ads that feature healthy and sexy smokers before they become sad, shriveled lung cancer patients.

    Hey Red Baron,

You must be one of those anti-Loretta nut cases, and that’s OK. You are probably also one of those “Red Republicans” too. Your obsession with her most likely dominates your life as seen in you post that is filled with little nuances that you must have spent all last night collecting from the OJ! blog. Do you ever hear the term, “making a mountain out of a molehill”, didn’t think so…

I, for one, would like the helmet law for motorcyclists to be repealed. I sold my bike the month after it was enacted. It is just one more way guvrnmen’ has their boots on our necks. Perhaps Loretta is suggesting she will repeal it when she becomes governor of California.

Or perhaps you want to see a sexy picture of her in an elegant dress. I just happen to have one taken with her at Davis’ inauguration back in ’98.

Most likely you are just jealous because she has never wanted to take one with you.

  • 6 Red Baron // Dec 14, 2008 at 7:27 am

I didn’t have to refer to the other blog in writing my brief comment here, because I wrote many of the same comments there too. If you are so radically opposed to the helmet law, why don’t you join Loretta in civil disobedience and ride without protective gear?

All I did was argue that a congresswoman should not use her holiday card to promote illegal conduct. From that you infer I am an “anti-Loretta nut” who is (paradoxically) jealous of a photo you claim to have with her. By the way, thousands of people get there picture taken with her every month, silly boy. It doesn’t mean she digs you!

Two years ago, Loretta used her holiday card to invite the public to fondle her pussy (i.e. cat, wink wink) as she sat on a simulated beach in a bare-legged wet suit. Is it asking too much to have a holiday card that doesn’t invite immoral or illegal acts? Apparently that is too much for Loretta.

I promise you, Loretta will never be governor of California. Go back to your drunken daydreams.

Loretta is such a hottie of a latina. I wish the others were more like her instead of being so damn angry all the time. If y’all think her petting the pussy (cat) card was that bad, maybe this motorcycle card could use a little doggie from behind? Lighten up folks…

  • 9 theKaiser // Dec 14, 2008 at 11:27 am

Doesn’t anyone realize this woman is supposed to be a Congressional representative? Or rather, she masquerades as a Congressional representative. Is this how you want to see your tax dollars at work, especially now that so many of us are out of work and the next 3-4 years are going to be even more economically grim? The $130K Loretta spent to distribute this caricature of herself, and she does this every year, could’ve sent three Latino young people to universities, or could’ve fed 9-10 families for a year. Instead, she’s only about advertising her so-called celebrity telenovela status, pretending to be George Lopez without the talent, or Salma Hayek without the intelligence or the beauty, or Raul Grijalva without the commitment to his constituents. And you wonder why Congress doesn’t take her seriously? And you wonder why the Obama administration doesn’t even recognize her existence. Three words…she’s a buffoon. And your hard-earned rapidly disappearing tax dollars finance this classless, tasteless buffoon, and all her inactivity in Congress. Where are our opportunities created by the federal government? Well they are not coming to the 47th Congressional district.

  • 10 Bearguez // Dec 14, 2008 at 3:00 pm

You’ve obviously never verbally engaged with Loretta…have you DfD or Jesus (Hay-Soos)? Or you wouldn’t be writing something as moronic as both of have written here. Because if you’ve had the opportunity to stand three inches from LOretta and listen to her ramble in that high-pitched bimbo jargon as she struggles to stand straight up because she’s consumed more alcoholic than her system can tolerate, she wouldn’t seem so hot to you. Or maybe you’re into fifty-year old telenovela dimwits who haven’t a clue about public policy or political commitment, yet are so convinced they’re qualified to be the ambassador to Italy. What’s obvious is that neither one of you pays federal taxes, or you’d see this woman in a completely different light.

  • 11 DoctorH // Dec 14, 2008 at 3:15 pm

Bearguez…why waste your words with these children? Now that LOretta has done her usual yuletide cry for attention let’s talk about her expenses in Did you know she doesn’t even live in the 47th Congressional District. She lives in Palos Verde…far far away from her constituents in Santa Ana and Garden Grove. And she only comes out to her Garden Grove office to shop at South Coast Plaza and Trader Joes. I attempted to read that book about her and her sister Linda, and if the dialogue in the book matches Linda Sanchez’s personality, then her constituents in her district are in trouble too! These two women are definitively part of that group of Congress that needs to go for Obama Barack get anything accomplished.

  • 12 DfD // Dec 14, 2008 at 3:30 pm

Democrat Maxine Waters doesn’t live in her district either….so why all the hatin’ on Loretta? She could hang on my arm anytime…

  • 13 El Cholo // Dec 14, 2008 at 3:32 pm

To quote Michaelr, in his description of Michael Chertoff as a walking feces…LOretta Sanchez certainly qualifies to be a member of that club. “The Walking Feces”…LOretta Sanchez, Alberto Gonzales, Michael Chertoff, Dick Cheney…hey, this is a high powered list. Maybe LOretta shouldn’t be on this list. Alberto Gonzales, Michael Chertoff, and Dick Cheney have all engaged in high crimes and misdemeanors, and serious corruption. LOretta just steals from her constituents, and it’s basically for shopping sprees at the South Coast Plaza, her property in Palos Verde, and this yuletide advertisement for attention. So maybe we should start a new club for all those politicians who don’t really do anything in DC, except take up space and attend all the galas and awards ceremonies. We’ll call this club, “The Glittered Walking Feces.” Yea…that’s more of an accurate description of LOretta.

  • 14 Michaelr // Dec 14, 2008 at 3:37 pm

El Cholo…”The Glittered Walking Feces” is bound to be quite a huge populated club in DC. Should we include politicians from Sacramento?

  • 15 El Cholo // Dec 14, 2008 at 3:49 pm

No, that would make the Christmas card list too long. We don’t want to spend $130K on Christmas cards like LOretta does. You would have to include 93% of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, NCLR, MALDEF, Patti Solis Doyle, and Leslie Sanchez and that consulting group of hers, since they all sit around and watch telenovelas on the public’s dime. Maybe “The Glittering Walking Feces shouldn’t include LOretta and her sister Linda. Maybe they should have their own private club?

  • 16 Michaelr // Dec 14, 2008 at 3:52 pm

  • 17 El Cholo // Dec 14, 2008 at 4:06 pm

Because LOretta and Linda Sanchez only attempt to procreate with WASPs. It’s probably beneath them to engage with Latino men. I am sure LOretta and Linda tell everyone in DC, they are Spanish, descended directed from Hernan Cortes.

  • 18 Michaelr // Dec 14, 2008 at 4:17 pm

I doubt LOretta even knows who Hernan Cortes is. She probably would guess he’s a tenor. The last time I engaged with her, she tried to convince me she was Italian. Then again she was inebriated. I have a hard time witnessing her for what she is.

  • 19 El Cholo // Dec 14, 2008 at 4:22 pm

Dream on DfD. Everyone keeps saying she is a slut and a player, but the only man that anyone has ever heard about is Jack Einwechter. She has been with him for at least five years. If anyone has information about Loretta’s other alleged lovers, let’s get that out on the table too. Put up or shut up, people.

My problem is that we have to pay for your ass when you become huevos rancheros on the side of the highway. If people could sign a card saying we just leave them there in pieces on the side of the highway, I’m all for people going helmetless, naked, whatever. (Please have the body for the naked thing if you go that route. It’s always the last people who should show their assets going bare on nude beaches or near-bare on the beaches for the rest of us.)

  • 27 Rachel Cohen // Dec 15, 2008 at 7:43 am

She’s so completely low-rent. I guess you get what you pay for. I pity the people in her district who think she’s doing anything for them.

  • 28 theKaiser // Dec 15, 2008 at 10:38 am

That’s a good point Rachel. It leads all of us to believe that the majority of voters in California’s 47th Congressional District don’t have the educational background, nor the understanding of what their political representatives even do. They just vote based on the last name. LOretta Sanchez began her political career as Loretta Brixey. On many legal documents she is still Loretta Brixey. She began using her maiden name for political purposes when she strategically determined that the majority of Latinos in her district would vote for her simply because of her last name. Go figure. You can only blame so much of this political ignorance on public education and the mythology they sell as fact in so many textbooks on Government and U.S. History. 2-3 years at a four-year university usually corrects the lies taught to us in public schools. The character issues that follow LOretta Sanchez around Capitol Hill have made her a non-entity amongst her Congressional colleagues. So she has little or no influence in harvesting votes for any action that could make a difference in people’s lives. LOretta Sanchez just takes up space in Congress, and collects $169,300 per year, plus benefits, and has all her expenses reimbursed. It’s too bad the Democratic National Committee allows a person of this character to disgrace their party, and flimflam democratic party constituents in this district.

  • 29 PissedOffinIrvine // Dec 15, 2008 at 2:21 pm

To whom does this appeal too? What kind of Congress person sends this to her voting constituents and actually thinks this is appropriate? Is she three cans short of a six pack? Doesn’t she have more important things to do with her time and our tax dollars? What kind of people vote for this wannabe clown? Lucille Ball she is not. If Congressional representatives are doing this with our tax dollars, its time we have another revolution.

  • 30 El Cholo // Dec 15, 2008 at 4:13 pm

You may be right PissedOffinIrvine…we just had a revolution to bring back idealism and accountability to the executive branch of the U.S. government. Now we should start the same process in Congress, one by one, and LOretta Sanchez is a good place to start. And Nancy Pelosi should be right after her.

OK, enough already. Let’s remember that these two sisters made history in Congress! Yes, they were both married to white guys, Yes, their Spanish is slightly better than that butcher of the Spanish language, Antonio Villaraigosa, yes, Loretta seems to have a healthy sense of humor and extremely self-confident, yes, times are bad, but no, I’m not throwing under the bus. These two women are two incredibly smart Latinas: Loretta for example made a million dollars on her own and stood up to the chauvanist Latino caucus in Congress, essentially telling all the vatos to go to hell; and Linda graduated from UCLA law school, She also sits on the House Judiciary sub-Committee that Conyers chairs. You’ve all seen these subpaeanas come through for the Bush White House operatives? It’s Linda who’s there asking the tough questions. So lay off, respect and admire these two women who combined have more huevos than the entire Latino caucus in Washington and Sacramento combined. My hats off to these Linda and Loretta.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a Hot Latina to bash, turn your attention to Rosario Marin from Huntington Park, one of the most corrupt public officials is she.

Check out the posts on where I’ve been researching her public record since 2004. Forget about petting kitties on laps, Rosario is more about petting donkeys than kitties.

    The Editor,

  • 36 FormerStaffer // Dec 15, 2008 at 9:10 pm

This is an intensely selfish, egocentric, somewhat delusional nearly fifty year old woman who has spent 42 years of her life clamoring for attention–any attention from anyone who will give it to her. Her selfishness has always gotten her in trouble, and it’s this selfishness that promotes such immoral, idiotic, and at times mindless behavior. She walks on the edge of a deviant mindset. Her adventures at the Playboy Mansion, her dalliances with married spouses, her churning of client’s brokerage accounts all represent an inner urge to take mindless edgy risks with gray area behavior. So much of what she does represents all that is ugly about human beings. This is the core problem that fuels her heavy office turnover. As a staffer you want to be inspired, you want to go home at night and feel like you made a difference in someone’s life. But you won’t find inspiration working for Loretta Sanchez. These Christmas cards say so much about her, and the inner scorn she indirectly conveys to the constituents in the 47th Congressional district of California.

  • 37 Jesus (Hay-Soos) // Dec 16, 2008 at 12:38 am

    Hey Red Baron,

I quit attending political functions over six years ago, so there are no drunken daydreams that you refer to. And I never inferred that she digs me. I am just saying that she looks great in that picture I have of us. Heck, even my wife is jealous of it, which was taken almost five years before we were married, a fact BEARGUEZ #10 totally ignores too. It was taken ALMOST TEN(10) YEARS AGO! She was a lot hotter then.

And, yes I have talked with her. You can’t expect to have a meaningful conversation with her in a social setting. If you want to discuss public policy with her then make an appointment to speak with her during her “office hours”. Also BEARGUEZ, you are almost right. I pay very little federal taxes only because I manage to write a lot of my expenses off every year. And who mentioned anything about Italy anyway? Just because they say a glass of red wine is good for the heart doesn’t mean you should drink the whole bottle before you comment on this blog.

While I’m at it, AMY #25, the ’80’s called and they want their old trite argument back! Puleeeze!!!

Personally, I never liked any of her “Christmas” cards. I used to live in her district but since have moved out. I would have liked for her to spend that money in a more productive manner but campaign expenditures have many limitations. Better educated people would know that.

  • 38 Red Baron // Dec 16, 2008 at 3:16 am

Hey, DfD, why don’t you show your wife this post you made right here in the artcle about Linda’s unwed pregnancy–

    “DfD // Dec 13, 2008 at 11:06 am

Obviously, you have an unhealthy fixation on Loretta, hoarding fantasies about an out-dated photo and dreaming of partying with her. Are you a stalker?

  • 39 Red Baron // Dec 16, 2008 at 3:29 am

FormerStaffer, I agree with your assessment of Loretta, but we need you to be more specific about her dalliances with married men and adventures at the Playboy mansion. We are all well aware of her affair with Einwechter, the married soldier. We have heard hints and allegations about her other alleged transgressions, but I am beginning to doubt that any of the other rumors are true, because no one is ever able to back them up with specifics. For example, you write about her “adventures at the Playboy mansion” but, other than a few fundraisers, what has she ever done there? Who are the married men she has played around with? Even Loretta is entitled to a presumption of innocence. We all understand your personal disappointment at her selfish conduct, but please tell us specifically how she let you down and whose spouses she betrayed.

    Gold. Gold. Gold!

  • 41 FormerStaffer // Dec 16, 2008 at 11:03 am

I could only tolerate two years with her, and unless I’m going to get an advance from a publisher I will not name names or go into more detail, Loretta is what Loretta is. You write as if you’re Jack Einwechter’s wife. So I will address the rest of this commentary as if you are Einwechter’s spouse. Nothing will happen to Loretta unless the voters in California’s 47th Congressional district suddenly wake up from their stupor and develop brain cells, or she pisses off the wrong person in Congress. If you think this is a nation that adheres to the rule of law then there’s a reality check you have to remind yourself about. The laws in this country are written to control and repress the rabble, not the high and mighty; they do as they please with whomever they want. It’s only when one of these Congressmen or Congresswomen becomes a threat to another public official more powerful than they that the laws are used against them. The only court in this land that matters is the court of public opinion. All the other courts from the U.S. Supreme Court on down are incredibly corrupt. So if you haven’t divorced Einwechter by now, you’ve been very foolish, because your husband is obviously into strange, and Loretta is queen of the freaks. Regarding the Playboy Mansion; what do you think they do there? Have tea with Hef? It’s an environment solely devoted to hedonism, and hedonism is Loretta’s middle name. So move on…he’s gone, and start another life. She has polluted him, and he apparently loves the stink.

Sent a message to Sanchez’s office today and received a telephone call from her staffer within 2 hours. Why? My message along with 18 others from my colleagues about Loretta’s Christmas card caused some concern and struck a nerve. Guess she looked our names up and noticed that we can at the very least direct our support elsewhere. Trust me our support isn’t anything she would want to ignore. But her gender-degrading, narcissistic holiday greeting is so far removed from the day-to-day horror many of her constituents face that we must devote time to getting her out of office. Clearly she has no respect or concern for her constituents. As I said to the current staffer her card makes it clear she does cruise through her district, particularly Garden Grove, Santa Ana. Suggested she take that fat cat and her fat butt off of that motorcycle and take a walking tour her district, so she can see the devastation and pain that exists.

    Do YOU support the same?

  • 45 Michaelr // Dec 17, 2008 at 8:24 am

And I support that those feelings completely YolandaR. LOretta Sanchez is a repulsive and twisted human being to think she can use her public office to finance and flaunt a telenovela celebrity wannabe status without producing any meaningful legislation or without bringing any fiscal relief to her constituents. Profiting from public office is supposed to be a federal crime. One drive through Santa Ana and Garden Grove will tell you there’s plenty of exploitation being produced by all the politicians representing that area. Its just a matter of time before Santa Ana begins resembling Huntington Park.

Here is Loretta’s stance on immigration:

She has voted no on the border fence, supports more visas for skilled workers, voted no on the minuteman project, etc. However, she does sit on the committee in Congress that oversees the border wall.

If you are going to continue to throw around terms like “chunti” at least learn to spell it correctly:

  • 47 DoctorH // Dec 17, 2008 at 8:42 pm

We’ve spent the last five hours on and haven’t found another Congressperson who spends $130K on Christmas cards. Matter-of-fact we haven’t found a Congressperson who even expenses their Christmas cards. Not even Linda Sanchez resorts to this public theft to flaunt her image amongst her constituents. So we’re beginning to think this is exclusively a LOretta Sanchez song and dance. In reviewing her expenses we’ve found some other borderline questionable public purchases, but we’re going to compare them to other members of the House and see where this leads. Nevertheless, LOretta pretty much qualifies to be in that club Fabian Nunez is a member of. What did Michaelr and El Cholo call it? The Glittered Walking Feces Club…
