Isn’t this sad? You write a tribute to someone and the usual one person gang of apologists doesn’t even comment. Maybe the historical content delivered by Jammer was too difficult to deal with between their daytime television programming and their corn flakes.

Those are excellent points Jammer. The irony of all this is that those men who died in service to their country will quickly be forgotten, and those warmongers and war profiteers who never put their lives at risk will get credit for the outcome of those military adventures in public school history textbooks.

First let me say, I am a veteran and I know some of the feelings of the dogfaces on this issue. Nothing is more revolting to us then those who posture as hawks and never faced a day in the trenches. John Wayne, that great hero, went to court to have his draft status changed so he would never have to serve. People like Jimmie Stewert, Ted Williams, Lee Marvin and others interupted great careers to serve their country. How about Tillman from the Arizona Cardinals? Yet draft dodgers like Ronald Reagan, Dick Cheney, and all the neo-cons who got us into Iraq were too gutless to put on the uniform. Bush II wouldn't even report to duty in that dangerous place Alabama. My deepest heartfelt gratitude to the Maj. Hutchisons, and to all Men and Women who have answered the call to serve their country. I cringe every sunday when I read the names in the casuality reports in the newspaper, but my heart is a bit more burdened when it is a Latino/a.

Who knows, maybe this Maj. Hutchison had nothing else to lose, maybe the military was a big part of his life. I think it's nice that we can chose whether we want to go into the military or not.
