While I personally would not have an abortion, who in the ELL am I to tell another woman what she needs to do with her body.

Here's the bottom line:
Mad Dog Fart Stupid--I mean Blue Dog Bart Stupak purposely put this claws--I mean clause in the bill to kill the whole thing- plain and simple. BTW there was absolutely NO mention of cases involving rape, and incest, nor ectopic pregnancies. I also have a problem with the spineless members of the Democratic party as it pertains to single-payer healthcare. We need more Allen Graysons and Dennis Kuciniches (Kucinich voted against the bill for right reasons)

It is also truly amazing how these asstroturfing fleabaggers, dittoheads and Beckerheads see healthcare as something that you earn--like it's a job, or entrance into an Ivy-League college. Then, they get all mealy mouth about liberals yet the go worship one on Sunday mornings. Healthcare is a human right and no one (not even them) should have to choose between paying rent and paying for medications/visits to the doctors. It also amazes me that these cretins are always itching and moaning about how they don't want government controlling their lives and individual freedom, yet when it comes to the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, and the uterus, they want total control.
Don't even get me started on how they think that they own the patent on what defines patriotism.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ1uu1NY-cg

If Healtcare reform is not passed, then there needs to be an immediate and I mean IMMEDIATE push for CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM! If any one of those politicians (Repub or Dem and yes the President) gave an iota, they would have ripped up every last check given to them by these greedy health insurance companies.

Voting for trillions of dollars to fight in a war based on bald-faced lies but won't vote for trillions for every American to have healthcare---how pathetic and Godless!!

...now let me exhale again

You need to group up and realize that you can't control women. And why shouldn't I be angry over women's health care being thrown under the bus? as I said before, abortion is a legal medical procedure, and not to cover it is discriminatory. Anyway, there are enough Democrats who will not vote for the final healthcare bill if the Stupak Amendment is in it.

http://www.rhrealitycheck.org/blog/2009/11/09/will-stupak-amendment-force-women-whove-miscarried-lose-insurance-coverage-i-think-so

The Stupak Amendment might outlaw coverage for miscarriages.

"Hospitals and doctors in general do not have terminology to classify a difference between the termination of a live pregnancy and one in which the fetus has already died. To them, a D&C is a D&C, regardless of the state of the "conception materials" removed...

I had learned the day before that the baby I thought was nearly 12 weeks old had no heartbeat, and had actually died at 8 weeks. I was given three options: wait for a miscarriage to occur on its own, something I was told my body had no intention of doing anytime soon, take medication that would expel the fetus, passing it in my own home (classified a "chemical abortion") or come in for a D&C to remove the fetal materials.

I chose the quick and total route of the D&C, despite the costs, prioritizing my health and the health of possible future children. I was lucky, and could afford to make that choice, because currently, my insurance cannot chose to refuse to cover what the hospital as termed an abortion.

Thanks to the Stupak amendment, that can now change.

Abortion is a very broad term. The pro-life contingent would like you to think it only applies to selfish, irresponsible women, murdering babies out of fear of inconvenience. That's a caricature they have invented to push their own agenda. Many of the women who seek out abortions are women who have been raped, who have learned that their child could not survive, have learned that giving birth could physically and permanently harm them. Or, thanks to newer and vaguer language, women who have already lost the life they were carrying, and need intervention to save their own.
