Veteran’s Day Remembrance

November 11th, 2009 · 3 Comments

As VivirLatino has reminded us, Latinos serving in the armed forces is not a new concept. I know that in my family, I have been fortunate to interact with my relatives who have served in conflicts from WWII to the Gulf War. While I often do not agree with how the troops are treated or some of the missions to which they are committed, I am thankful for their service and realize that the military is often an avenue to higher education, advanced job training, and a middle class life for so many of our people. So I encourage you to thank a veteran today.

Yesterday President Obama gave a great speech memorializing the victims of the Fort Hood shooting. I think that it is appropriate to listen to it today because it highlights the lives of those lost last week and reminds us that no faith justifies murderous acts.

Isn’t he making as assumption that the guy’s faith had anything to do with it?

Obama did not write his speech. As a military person, his speech was not very reassuring to me and my family.

I thought the speech was good and truly I dislike NObama. My question is when is the Muslim Caucus (can I say like this, I’m sure MichaelR or Cockroach dude will correct me) going to stand up and say something…and how soon before we stop being politically correct with these things. His belief had everything to do with what he did!

Nobama’s speech was fair and appropriate, but I feel an undertow in this nation and I fear something very close to the riots in LA might take place across this country.

One more statement, this was an attack on America and it happened on Nobama’s watch…why did the FBI fail to talk to the military on this issue…are we back to the Clinton years where things were stove piped so bad that no one talked to each other??
