Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez’s pending announcement on December 1!

November 29th, 2009 · 20 Comments

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez has declared that on December 1 she will be making an important announcement about her famous annual holiday card. The OC Register has even speculated what this year’s card will look like, and following its lead, we have been thinking about what the Congresswoman might send out in this year of the great recession.

Representative Sanchez is never one to shy away from controversy or from showing more skin than what is professionally/public servant appropriate. We have seen her spread eagle on a motorcycle and showing off her legs in a wet suit, so perhaps she may further lower the bar this year and display more of that sleazy persona she loves to promote.

These holiday cards typically cost upward of $130K every year, so we know that she will want to make them memorable and get the most bang for her donors’ buck and perhaps show off the goods to her lobbyist friends. So following up on last year’s theme of “cruisin’ into the new year,” we thought she would slide into 2010.

Disclaimer: This “advance holiday card” is obviously a spoof.

UPDATED 12/1/09: You can see the actual Loretta Sanchez 2009 Holiday card here.

I heard she pulled papers to run for Governor….

I would be surprised if her annual holiday card doesn’t resemble this. Great characterization of what Loretta Sanchez is all about.

    letygee,

Now that would be funny, Loretta Sanchez running for governor! As of about a month ago, she was telling the press that she had no intention of running for governor. Frankly, I don’t know why she would want it. She has a cushy job in the Congress and appears to weather her little “scandals” quite well.

Well, I do suppose that if she does in fact run for governor that she will eventually have to tell us what the story is with Jack Einwechter, who allegedly left his wife to take up with Loretta while she (Loretta) was still married to Stephen Brixey.

Gustavo…it looks like Loretta is truly light skinned. She just has to match the half inch pan makeup with her real skin color. So apparently she is a bona fide “peninsular,” elitist. No wonder she’s so against the “Dream Act.”

I wonder if Loretta will now tell us what’s in her purse?

Maybe she’ll drop the card this year because of the recession…that would be a clever campaign move to get good press.

I read the OC Register’s article – she actually said it was “important for me to put a smile on people’s faces ..let them have a little chuckle and realize things are not so bad”. Loretta needs to wake up – people getting her “cute” cards are not hungry, homeless, or in need of a decent paying job. Loretta will send out her cards and the hungry and the homeless will not be smiling. It is that bad.

    BettyM:

“let them have a little chuckle and realize things are not so bad”

Exactly my point BettyM. Things are not so bad when you earn over $160K per year, have the best health insurance tax payer money can buy, and get to travel around on the tax payer’s dime. Like the stunt with the purse, this is more publicity to divert us from Loretta’s legislative or advocacy agenda. She’s more known for these antics than for accomplishing anything substantive.

Exactly…well put webmaster. No one in DC has reversed the role of public servant with shameless, attention seeking celebrity more explicitly than Loretta Sanchez. And she’s been doing it for more than twelve years on the public dime. Shame on those voters in the Congressional 47th district in California for supporting this clown.

I think in many districts the voters just don’t have candidates with leadership qualities. More people from the community need to come out and run based on what are community issues and concerns. We need to steer away from the useless DemoRepublican platform and their bastardized ideals. With the money our one party system has, they can even get my dog elected…

[...] enough, the National Republican Congressional Committee has picked up where we left off in spoofing Congresswoman Sanchez’s 2009 holiday card. Plainly, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez [...]

Only Loretta Sanchez could make those right wing nut jobs on Capitol Hill seem sensible. Where’s Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi on this issue of absolute public service incompetence?

  • 13 Anna // Dec 3, 2009 at 6:56 pm

I think they have more important things to do than worry about a Christmas card.

  • 14 El Cholo // Dec 3, 2009 at 7:00 pm

And only you would suggest that miss cholita… since incompetence to you is public service.

“I think they have more important things to do than worry about a Christmas card.”

I think you are probably right, and I anticipate on having more blog posts about more important things as well. However, notice how Rep. Sanchez makes a big announcement over vainglorious holiday greetings and not about opposing this surge in Afghanistan or what she’s going to do to get more people back to work.

You have a weird obsession with her.

Ignorance must be bliss with you miss cholita. To be gullible enough to believe Loretta Sanchez spends quality time serving the voters in her district. You’ve obviously never engaged with her. Loretta Sanchez, and people like her depend on people like you to remain in office.

  • 18 Anna // Dec 5, 2009 at 11:02 am

The voters in her district disagree with you.

  • 19 theKaiser // Dec 5, 2009 at 5:08 pm

And we strongly disagree with you, and your hypocritical ranting. El Cholo…don’t waste your time and thoughts with this person. There’s no one minding the store. You can’t enlighten everyone.

  • 20 Anna // Dec 6, 2009 at 11:20 am

You’re the one who needs enlightenment. You don’t even live in her district. Get a life.
