Back in October, I blogged about the upcoming census and why I thought that boycotting this effort would not force the immigration issue. Well, I still stand by the assertion that all people living in the US should be counted, and currently many organizations are making sure that our community fully participates.

Voto Latino is one organization doing its part to make sure that people participate. This organization has launched its “Be Counted” effort featuring some tools to make sure that all hands are on deck for maximum participation. This site allows people to take a “Census Pledge,” where people can receive 25 free songs from major artists including Pitbull, Los Tigres del Norte, Jaguares, Morrissey and more.

I encourage everyone who reads this blog to check out the Voto Latino Be Counted site and to participate in the count. More than $400 billion is at stake. And finally, this is our best opportunity to really highlight how much our communities have grown.
