Another One Bites the Dust – Rep. Solomon Ortiz Concedes

It has been a rough election cycle for many of the moderate to conservative Democrats in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus with members such as John Salazar and Ciro Rodriguez losing their seats. Yesterday, Rep. Solomon Ortiz who has represented Texas 27th district since 1982 conceded the race to Republican Blake Farenthold.

Farenthold gained notoriety in weeks leading up to the election for posing in pajamas with scantily clad women. Here’s a commercial Ortiz ran in this race:

    Rep. Solomon Ortiz voted against the DreamACT in an attempt to assuage Conservatives in his district. It did not work. Ortiz lost by 799 votes to Republican Blake Farenthold. Farenthold appears to be a moderate on the issue of immigration and judging from his website it appears that he would be a supporter of the DreamACT: http://bit.ly/gDMo1W
