Justice for Brisenia Flores: Shawna Forde Found Guilty of 1st Degree Murder

February 14th, 2011 · 11 Comments

Many within the Latino community  have been following the Brisenia Flores murder case closely. I had intended on blogging about it earlier, but time and other tasks prevented me from doing so. A few years ago, 9 year old Brisenia Flores was shot point blank in her home by some Minutemen. It is an absolutely sickening case, and for me, this serves as an example of what can happen with civilians decide to take immigration enforcement into their own hands.

Today justice has been served with Shawna Forde, the mastermind behind the home invasion and killing, being convicted of two counts of first degree murder.

Over the weekend, Presente.org started a poster campaign to raise awareness of the Brisenia Flores murder case. I would encourage you to print out the poster that Presente has made available to help raise awareness about the Flores murder case and to let people know that we are paying attention to what happens with crime perpetrated against Latinos. All too often, our children don’t receive the high profile media attention that say a Christina Greene or JonBenet Ramsey receives. Descanse en paz Brisenia.

I’ve notice that some of the media are trying to play down her connections to the Minutemen and to FAIR.

    Yeah, right.

Jim Gilchrist is the founder of the Minutemen and he is often a guest on FOX News. Glenn Spencer is the founder of American Patrol and was very prominent during the Prop 187 debate. There are links about their connections to her.

Forde was also a speaker on a FAIR panel which aired on a PBS station in Washington state. The media often quote FAIR representatives on immigration issues.

The Justice Department needs to investigate the Minuteman and all of its splinter groups, as they are now into home invasions and murder.

those minuteman monsters murdered Brisenia and her dad in cold blood.
Are we just going to sit back and do nothing? or are we as a people going to demand justice !!

Actually, I was thinking about the lack of MSM coverage, and let’s be honest, they would have done a poor job. An institution that is virulently anti-brown people and very pro-Minutemen was not going to do justice to the victims. They would have created sympathy for that monster Forde, and she would have gotten off. Even the miniscule coverage they have provided wrongly calls Forde an “activist” and the family “illegal immigrants.” They also call her a “vigilante,” which implies that the victims did something wrong. So, I’m actually glad that the racist MSM stayed out of the way.

Forde was convicted and that is the most important thing. The jury has just decided that Forde is eligible for the dealth penalty, and it only took them 45 minutes to decide.

Just for clarification, the “Minutemen American Defense” are not associated with the more well known “Minutemen Civil Defense Corps”, which was founded by Jim Gilchrist and their mission is to observe, document and report.

Are you kidding? Gilchrist defended Forde even after she was arrested.

Thanks to all for the mention of our organization, Immigration Clearinghouse.

We’ve been following Forde for the past2.5 year from the time she reported her fake rape to authorities in Everett Wa.

It is sad, despite our best efforts, that the MSM continue to ignore the tragedy, except on a slow news day.

Make no mistake. Forde was intrinsically linked to Jim Gilchrist and his Minuteman Project, as a national director. To Chris Simcox and his MCDC until she was caught fund raising for her own personal gain and kicked out. She was photographed in the comm room of of Ken Dregers BPAUX at their Camp Vigilence in California and was a frequent visitor, and for a time, lived at Glenn Spencers ranch in Arizona. She was arrested for these murders after leaving his ranch.

She participated and promoted the Tea Baggers and had a very vocal hatred of Hispanics, especially Mexicans, unless she had a use for them, as she did Albert Gaxiola.

But once arrested, the MM movement stumbled all over themselves to distance themselves, including perhaps one of the most racist scam artists around, William Gheen, of ALIPAC.us .

Thank you to presente.org and the rest of online and on-the-ground organizers that pushed for this story to get national attention. This highlights just how important it is that young social activists don’t get blocked from accessing the internet; in this digital age, it is the more important that organizers push back against oppression, media blackouts, and racism, as I mentioned previously here:

Considering Brisinia’s parents were big time drug dealers in Arivaca I’d say they did more to bring those monsters into their house than the minutemen did. that’s why those people with force went to their house. Raoul’s cousin Albert ratted him out as a drug dealer and told them he had cash and drugs. Everyone in Arivaca knew that.
