John McCain Sinks Even Lower: Now Blames AZ Wildfires on Undocumented Border Crossers

June 19th, 2011 · 5 Comments

A year ago Senator John McCain was saying that undocumented immigrants were “intentionally causing accidents” on the freeways. Well, he’s up to making crazy assertions again without any evidence to back his claims. Now he’s telling us that undocumented people are causing the wildfires in Arizona:

“There is substantial evidence that some of these fires have been caused by people who have crossed our border illegally,” McCain said. “The answer to that part of the problem is to get a secure border.”

Now it is entirely possible that border crossers light fires to keep warm, but with dry conditions and the typical spring/summer heat in Arizona, I’m not so sure that anyone would need to light a fire during this time of the year. I could be wrong, but for John McCain to make this kind of assertion without offering any evidence, he obviously panders to a certain type of Arizona voter and doesn’t do anything to elevate the immigration discourse. Just this week President Obama extended the deployment of National Guard troops to the border, and border crossings have been on the decline in recent years. So McCain’s point that the border is not secure isn’t even very valid at this point.

I do want to note that there are some suspects who are being questioned about the wildfire, which investigators think may been been started by an abandoned camp fire. However, if you read the report about the fire investigations, there is no mention of immigrants legal or otherwise.

    It’s called scapegoating my friends..

And it seems to be the american national pastime these days to blame Mexicans for every problem existing on the planet they’ll be blaming Mexicans for bad weather, tsunamis and earthquakes, that’s how crazy the racists and xenophobes are..
Who knows what they are capable of doing if they have the opportunity..

Scapegoating,if left unchecked, allowed and encouraged to grow could very well lead to Fascism.
    Yes,that’s right I said “Fascism”.

There once was another politician who based his political program and national movement around scapegoating. He targeted another national minority for all of Germany’s problems..that politician was Adolph Hitler and the minority he scapegoated were the Jews..

During the Weimar republic (the last democratic republic in Germany before the Nazis took power) The Jews could never in their wildest dreams anticipate that they,in the next decade, would be rounded up in raids and community dragnets, arrested, put on boxcars like cattle and sent off to concentration camps with their death chambers..

The Jews thought at the time of the Weimar republic….”No way,it can never happen,impossible!”..

I’m not suggesting that will necessarily happen here in the USA, all I’m saying is that Mexicans should be as a united people strongly pro-active and extremely vigilant in opposing and fighting back against nascent fascism every time it rears it’s ugly head..

You don’t think it can’t happen here?

    Better think twice!
Just look at current Obama fascist-like immigration policies in action.. mass raids, deportations, community dragnets, checkpoints, police harrasement, racial profiling, emprisoning undocumented Mexicans in private secret prisons depriving them of basic human and civil rights,in many cases holding them incommunicado, without due process..

We cannot allow any possibility of our one day waking up to find out that we too have been identified as targets.. “scapegoats”..

Some group is planning to register 1 million Latinos to vote, but they will only vote for Obama if he does something about immigration reform. If not, their votes will remain in a “lockbox.” If this group can do that, control 1 million or more votes, they will definitely have some bargaining power. It’s nice to see Latinos taking the lead instead of being directed by somebody else.

Where is the proof that Mexicans did this?
Has it occurred to Mr. McCain that anti-immigrant groups set those fires in an attempt to implicate undocumented Mexican immigrants?

If it is true. The argument could be made that if they were not there then the fires would not have started. The answer is a sensible guest worker program.
