Kinde Durkee, a campaign operative who most people wouldn’t really know about unless they paid attention to campaign finance and mail pieces in local elections, was arrested over the weekend and will likely face mail fraud charges. Durkee is connected to some of the more prominent Latino politicians in Southern California including Representative Loretta Sanchez, State Senator Lou Correa and Assemblyman Jose Solorio.

It looks like the elected officials that Durkee was doing work for may have been the victims of embezzlement. The LA Times reports that Correa had only learned of any troubles in working with his campaign treasurer on Friday.

This isn’t the first time Rep. Loretta Sanchez has encountered a problem with people spending money inappropriately. Just a few years ago, a former aide to Rep. Sanchez was given probation for stealing office funds for pizza, groceries, and airline tickets.
