H/T to Gustavo Arellano at the OC Weekly for writing this up.
Just when you think one of the Latino community’s fearless leaders had run out of important things to do, she took it upon herself to bestow a Congressional Recognition to the Orange County Church of Scientology Ideal Org. Yep, that’s Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez for you — the lawmaker who finds time to film “Call Me Maybe” parodies with her staff, hang out at the Playboy Mansion, and miss more votes than the average member of Congress.
As Arellano explains, “The snafu happened last August, while Loretta was taking a tour of businesses in downtown SanTana at the invite of Downtown Inc., the controversial group whom some say is leading the “renaissance” of the area while others blame for gentrification. While Loretta visited other businesses that day, her detour to the Ideal Org is simply bizarre. Who’s the pendejo aide who told her this would be a good idea?”
Now that she’s in a pretty safe district, it seems Congresswoman Sanchez has more room for error and can entertain things like Scientology. Scientology has been investigated by the FBI for human trafficking and has come under scrutiny for physical beatings and psychological torture of its members.

I see she changed her last name back to Spanish. Was it just for the vote? She married out of her cultura because as many educated Chicanas feel they are moving up in the world with a huero. When I walked with Chavez in the midst of the Tulare County Sheriff beatings these people were known as “Vendidos.” Today they undermine our struggles by being self serving individuals.

She brings a lot of money back to Orange County. It’s only in your mind that she’s a screw up.

Por favor. Seriously nutty call Loretta. Wasn’t it a Scientologist who just last week went nuts on dear Miss Catherine, the beloved landlady of actors and writers, and sliced up her little cat before jumping off the balcony and thankfully saved taxpayers a lot of mula and time for murdering a wonderful 81 year old woman and her beloved pet. Dead murderers save us taxpayers the high cost of justice.
Sorry, congressional recognition to those nuts is proof that Congresswoman Sanchez is not all there herself. Lamento. Lamento mucho.
Just say no / no mas / basta to incumbents in November 2012!

I’m not sure what it is, but I’m beginning to believe that politics is where dumb people go because they cannot survive in the private sector or real world. We certainly are not seeing leadership, case in point-Loretta Sanchez..and leaders are what we are desperately in need these days..
